演讲简介：I went into science drawn by the desire to do transformative rather than incremental work. I attribute my success to choosing projects having high potential “bang for the buck” that few others have identified as such, and moving on to new challenges when the field grows too crowded. I will describe how this strategy has led to a career of both successes and failures, but always filled with fun, excitement, and hope.

个人简介：埃里克•白兹格（Eric Betzig）1960年出生于美国密歇根州的安娜堡。白兹格在加州理工学院学习物理，并于1983年获得了学士学位。此后他继续在康奈尔大学学习，分别于1985年和1988年获得应用物理学硕士和工程物理学博士学位。获得博士学位后，白兹格就职于贝尔实验室半导体物理研究部。白兹格2006年加入了霍华德•休斯医学研究所的珍利亚农场任研究园区组长，开发超高分辨率的荧光显微镜技术。2014年白兹格因“研制出超分辨率萤光显微镜”与斯特凡•W•黑尔、W•E•莫纳共同获得诺贝尔化学奖。他所获得的其他重要奖项包括威廉•麦克米兰奖及美国国家科学院的研究倡议科学奖。
